GelRope gaskets provide shielding against high levels ofelectromagnetic interference (EMI), environmental and pressuresealing against water ingress, and electrical grounding in avariety of electronics and communications applications. Extensivesalt fog tests have shown that the dBseal silicone gel materialprovides an effective barrier against galvaniccorrosion.
Gelsurrounds the conductive wire mesh of the dBseal gaskets andisolates the metal substrate-to-gasket contact points fromcorrosive elements.
Theunique wire mesh/silicone gel construction also ensures that theelectrical resistance of the wire mesh will not increasesignificantly due to corrosion. The surface wetting action of gelnot only minimizes intermetallic corrosion between gasket andsubstrate, but also ensures dependable EMI shielding andenvironmental sealing over time.
StandarddBseal gaskets feature wire mesh made of Monel, an alloy of nickeland copper, ideal for its EMI shielding and low cost. Other wiremesh materials are also available.
Application Method
Cold applied without any specialsurface preparation or adhesive, the gels self-healingcharacteristic eliminates the need to fuse the ends together toform a gasket
